I began this piece by applying a thick layer of gesso with a palette knife, allowing for raised areas and scrape marks. I was able to dry the gesso relatively quick by using a heat tool. I then stenciled the white designs with white pigment ink, applied clear embossing powder, then heat embossed. The blending of the background colors was achieved by applying Faber Castel Gelatos in shades of yellows and blues, spritzing with water, then tilting the canvas in all directions to blend the colors. Once I got the colors the way I liked them, I dried it with a heat tool. The final layer is simply acrylic paint applied through a stencil with a makeup sponge. (click on pic to enlarge) |
