I've always been an artist and creativity comes natural to me. I've gotten my hands in just about everything.... sculpting, furniture design, jewelry making, sewing, painting, paper crafting, etc etc etc. With everything I've created in my life (so many things!) I considered it all just to be a hobby. It's only in the last year (when I sold my first painting) that I started calling myself an artist although I've always been one and my creativity is so deeply engrained in who I am. As I've been building my website, I've been reflecting on my artistic evolution. I've definitely become more comfortable with creating weird and off the wall pieces. I've always had a, some would say, "dark" side to me (goth kid). But...my artwork didn't reflect that nor did it reflect any part of who I am in general. I was accustomed to making cutesy, frilly, girly stuff based on what others like/want as opposed to creating it for me....to express who I am or what I'm feeling. It's hard to say whether this newfound freedom has made my artwork better or worse. But....I don't really care. Because what's important is that I enjoyed making it. I enjoy putting a little piece of who I am in everything I create.
